This video demonstrates myocardial preservation during a two patch repair technique to repair a partial anomalous pulmonary venous return and a sinus venosus atrial septal defect in a 20-month-old boy. The cardioplegia solution used for this procedure was CUSTODIOL® HTK which was administered into the aortic root causing a slow, gentle arrest of the heart. Once the heart was arrested, the septal defect was repaired and partial anomalous pulmonary venous return was completed. The cardioplegia solution was administered only once during the procedure, and resulted in a very nice diastolic arrest of the heart with a very clear operative field. Once the procedure was complete, the cross clamp was removed and the heart returned to its normal sinus rhythm with no defibrillation. Total cross clamp time in this procedure was 48 minutes.
